I’ve been speculating about this for years. How easy would it be for a President, facing landslide defeat in an upcoming re-election to contrive some domestic crisis which he can then exploit to declare martial law and suspend elections, essentially squatting in office indefinitely?
We’ve heard Obama’s advisers like Rahm Emanuel say that you should never let a crisis go to waste. We’ve seen how Obama will go so far as to engineer a crisis when none exists.
We’ve also heard his supporters hinting that now is the time to riot in the streets. And we’ve seen blacks, anarchists and Union thugs testing the waters by doing just that on a limited scale. Not unlike the dry-runs we see terrorists engaging in just before launching a genuine attack.
Everyone knows it, on the Left as well as the Right. We feel it in our guts and in our bones. There is trouble brewing. Many well known commentators have said that the nation is on the cusp of rebellion. That such anger and polarization has not existed since before the last civil war.
Now for the first time a Democrat Governor has actually suggested that suspending elections might be a good idea, while a former Presidential adviser opined that perhaps America has too much democracy “Gimme dat old time tyranny….it was good enough Stalin, it’s good enough for me.”
I reject the notion that we on the Right must avoid reacting to violence directed at us because “that
would only play into Obama’s hands.” Whether the Left starts the violence or whether they succeed in goading us into firing the first shot, it matters little. Either way Obama can use it as a pretext to make his power grab.
If and when the time comes, the worst thing we on the Right can do is nothing.
Doing nothing will certainly play into the hands of the regime.
Quoting the Constitution or waiting for a Supreme Court Ruling or for the military to rescue us will not be an option. Likewise, protesting in the street waving Gadsden flags and posters will only make you a target for snipers. We see that in Syria.
